Dubai
is proud to host Dubai World Cup, a top event in International thoroughbred racing.  For 2010, this splendid event took place at the new, iconic Meydan Grandstand and racecourse that opened on 27th March.  This brand new grandstand is probably the largest in the world – it is 1.2 km long and accommodates 60,000 race goers at the state of the art race track.

For 2010, there was a lot to celebrate – the splendid new stadium and races with $1m prizes making it the richest purse in the world.  Also, for the first time, the 2010 Dubai World Cup was broadcast in High Definition.

From the fabulous opening ceremony to the closing celebrations and presentations to the winners, the producers needed radio cameras to capture the spirit and excitement of the day.  They could follow the horses in the parade ring and get the interviews and capture all the other little events around the racecourse.

To ensure smooth performance of the mobile cameras for the World feed, Broadcast RF were appointed as specialist RF suppliers.  The mammoth task of organising frequencies and radio cameras for this illustrious event was made more complex with a new state of the art race course, and the event going HD for the first time.  We supplied and engineered over 15 HD systems Link & Gigawave, ranging from standard hand held wireless cameras to more complex tracking vehicle, helicopters and even HD links from hand gliders!

Overall the first event at the Meydan racecourse went very well.  Roll on 2011!
