Broadcast RF used the latest Vislink technology to extend the coverage of the 2009 Singapore Marathon.  Deep interleaving and Long Period Diversity Switching were combined in live broadcast for the first time.

Two Camera bikes were installed with L1500 transmitters with the latest deep interleaving software, transmitting live pictures back to the OB at the Paddang.  The 42km race passes two very different environments – the city centre and the east coast area.  Previous years have seen only the city stretch of the course covered by Broadcast RF’s wireless cameras.

Last year, we gained up to 70% coverage of the city centre, with this years deep interleaving software improving to almost 90% coverage.  The east coast section was covered by 8 way diversity – again with the deep interleaving enabled receivers and was transmitted back to the city centre midpoint where it was switched using the long period software.  Once the bike feeds were intelligently switched between receive locations, the outputs were fed down to the OB at Paddang.

Ray Hume, the Producer for Sports 5 adds:

“You’ve given me such great coverage, I’m struggling to fit in my advertisement breaks!”

Once again Broadcast RF break the boundaries in wireless camera technology.
