Bassas Da India is located in the southern Mozambique Channel between Madagascar and Mozambique. It’s the perfect location to find the Oceanic Whitetip Shark, which is one of the most aggressive sharks around. This shark has attacked more humans than all other shark species, but footage of the shark is rare.
Animal Planet visited the area with teams of divers and underwater cameramen to film the sharks in their natural habitat. Broadcast RF supplied and engineered the monitoring station located on large vessel over a mile away from the floating divers platform. We supplied stable pictures for the director to communicate with the team of divers to get the optimum camera footage he required.
Gigawave’s Clip-On system and a back up analogue link transmitted every day for over three weeks while the footage was gathered and the RF system performed as promised. The long days and nights were spent waiting for the particular species, but they finally arrived.
