1st Stage Finish

Rhiems Way, Canterbury

Sunday, 8th July 2007

NEP Visions employed Broadcast RF to supply the radio camera coverage from the Opening Ceremony at London’s Trafalgar Square, The Prologue and time trials at The Mall and the 1st Stage finish in Canterbury.

A combination of Link Research and Gigawave systems were employed for the impressive coverage.

The Opening Ceremony had three Low Delay D-Cams within the square and a high powered Link XPR System with 8 way diversity reception.  The high powered radio camera took the cyclists off the stage and followed them around the back of Trafalgar Square, all the way down to Big Ben, around and back up Whitehall and half way down the Mall.

The three Low Delay D-Cams remained on stage for the rest of the evening to cover the Lemar music concert in Trafalgar Square.

The digital radio cameras then moved to the Prologue finish in the Mall on the Saturday.  Four D-Cams and a return video system were used at the finish of the time trials.  The digital radio cameras provided interviews for ITV Sport and worked seamlessly in a heavily congested RF environment.

After a long day in the Mall, the Broadcast RF equipment and crew then moved on to Canterbury for the 1st Stage Finish in Canterbury.  Once again, seamless, unbroken pictures were provided to the OB for the race finish.

Tim Allsop – NEP Visions Unit Manager stated:

"When considering a complex multi location OB over 4 days around London for the Tour De France 2007 London Stage, we needed a RF supplier who understands cycle racing and the complexity of working with other RF suppliers in a heavily subscribed RF environment. Broadcast RF was our first choice, they work seamlessly with JFMG (Ofcom) and react quickly when on location.

They responded with a reliable and seamless package of RF camera systems which worked uninterrupted around the streets of London, on a camera bike and in hand held operation. They provide well trained knowledgeable and personable crew who interact well within main OB crew and offer assistants beyond their required duty.

Thank you to BRF for another successful OB"
