Broadcast RF have recently returned from India where they were employed to broadcast their International Marathon in Mumbai live using RF technology from chase bikes and a Wescam supplied by Aerial Camera Systems. Having supplied the technology and crew for the 2004 marathon, Broadcast RF returned to India with better methods, knowledge and more diverse equipment.
We had three chase bikes, working into two military helicopters using Link Research equipment with diversity in the helicopter (as the uplink) and then re-transmitted back to base using Gigawave microwave links and 13dBi Power Amplifiers (as the downlink). The Wescam helicopter had a Gigawave link and GPS Antenna technology, with a 17dBi Power Amplifier. This camera platform covered the whole course with no break up at all.

Overall, we considered the Mumbai Marathon as a great success. This is the second time we have combined different manufactured links during a marathon and we seem to be supplying “the best of both worlds” on our major projects now. With Gigawave and Link Research equipment being combined – Broadcast RF cannot fail to win.
