Broadcast RF test new microwave technologies
Broadcast RF recently returned from Lebanon, where they tried and tested
new systems and combinations of links for the Beirut International Marathon 2005.
We supplied 1 bike uplink into 1 military “Huey” helicopter supplied by the Lebanese government. We use a diversity receiver in the helicopter to make sure we got the best possible uplink quality, and then re-transmitted back down to base. The problems with Marathons occur when the uplink signal is lost, which is why we went for the diversity option. The bikes had 95% coverage of the 26 mile marathon which is good considering how built up Beirut is.

Broadcast RF also supplied a digital helicopter downlink for the camera platform helicopter. With a GPS steered antenna on the aircraft, it completed the course with no break up and was always a “get out of trouble” camera. Also with our expert engineers close by on site, the marathon ran extremely smoothly and the client was happy for the third year in a row.
Looking forward to the Beirut Marathon 2006
